STABILISE project offers novelty in the transition from laboratory to industrial scale in biomass application, which includes the definition of fundamental and practical toolkits for their implementation in the biomass gasification process as a challenge in the sustainable development of Serbian industry. The overall objective behind STABILISE would be to identify and propose optimal technology for biomass gasification.

From fossil fuels to biomass gasification
Gasification is struggling with challenges compared to the more maturely developed combustion technology, such as tar or other trace impurities, which cause operational problems for downstream gas utilization. STABILISE project encompasses characterization methods of raw, catalyst-supported feedstocks, char for its consideration as a catalyst for tar removal, methods of mathematical modelling for gasification process optimization, syngas chemical content detection, and methods for produced syngas quality improvement. STABILISE is an industry-preferred sustainable gasification technology upgrade with a remarkable local socio-economic impact. Its implementation should reduce the cost of operation and pollution control in the biomass-to-energy industry.

STABILISE Project team consists of 15 members, of which 3 full professors, 1 principal research fellow, 1 associate professor, 4 senior research associates, 5 research associates and 1 junior research assistants (PhD student), whereas a whole team have an average Hirsch index of h = 7.14 (only counting from 2017th) and citations of 242 (excluding self-citations) as average values in the last five years (from 2017th) for Project team. The Project team has many years of experience in research and allocating resources and funds for scientific projects related to industrial cooperation. The team is proud to have 5 female researchers (~36%) and 1 young researchers-PhD student (~8%).
